The HGS Trust has awarded a grant towards the cost of the new piano and the Committee expresses its thanks and appreciation on behalf of members and HGS residents. The total external support given for this project totals £5,500 shared between the John Hewson Bequest, the Residents Association and the HGS Trust.
The Fellowship Committee wishes all Suburb residents the very best for the New Year. Fellowship House will close as usual for the holiday period on Sunday 23rd December until Wednesday 2nd January. Some improvements to lighting in the courtyard and in the hall will be made during this time. The traditional New Years Party with entertainment for Fellowship Members will be held on Tuesday 8th January. Reservations necessary.
As usual, Fellowship House will be closed for the month of August for redecorations – and a well earned rest for staff and volunteers! The first Tuesday Talk after reopening will be on September 4th – a DVD showing of the John Freeman ‘Face to Face’ interview with John Osborne.
Janette was a leading light for many years on the Fellowship Committee and will be remembered for her hard work and wise counsel.
Her funeral will take place at 2pm on Monday 8th January at Golders Green Crematorium.
It is with great sadness that we report the death of John Hewson on November 26th.
John was a huge presence at Fellowship and his contribution significant. After a successful career in advertising spanning over 30 years, John became Treasurer of Fellowship and then was Chairman from 2006 until 2015 when he was made Honorary Lifetime President.
He will be missed greatly by everyone.
There will be Memorial Service for John on Saturday 13th January at 2pm in the Free Church followed by refreshments. All are welcome.
