Elgar

The violinist Serena Leader has performed as a soloist at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Hall in her native Holland, as well as various British venues including the Wigmore Hall. She and Barry Millington will introduce and play Elgar’s Violin Sonata, one of the composer’s late, nostalgic chamber works, described by his wife, Alice, as ‘wonderful new music, different from anything else of his’ and by a close friend as ‘wood magic. So elusive & delicate’.

Friday 21st July   2.30pm

The Magic Flute

Ashley Solomon and Zoë Solomon

Ashley Solomon, Chair and Head of Historical Performance at the Royal College of Music, is one of the world’s leading flute/recorder players and teachers. He is also director of the ensemble Florilegium. In this session he joins forces with his sister, Zoë Solomon, distinguished pianist and Suburb resident, to play music by Poulenc and the German Romantic Carl Reinicke.
